Our pupil school council took a trip to meet the Mayor of Greenwich, Cllr Dominic Mbang at the Town Hall in Woolwich this week. They toured the grand building, marveled at the 18 carat gold ceremonial chains, and even got to sit in the debating chamber and ask the Mayor questions about his role in office. Year 3 were taken back in time to the land of the Pharaohs to discover what every day life was like in Ancient Egypt. A great time was had making engraved cartouche necklaces, weaving reed mats, grinding buckwheat and playing traditional board games. #Curiosity #BeBlackheathPrep

Kindness is one our 7 school values and to mark World Kindness Day we've set our pupils their penultimate Challenge 200 task for our bicentenary year. Across the school, each year group will be carrying out 200 acts of kindness and helping to make a difference to those around them, in the classroom, on the playground or at home. It's been a busy couple of days for our Year 3 who have been raising money for our bicentenary charities. Yesterday they went to @ageexchange in #Blackheath to deliver boxes of book donations for the Centre's library and secondhand book sales, and today they organised a Charity Tuesday event with a Halloween themed bric-a brac sale! We had a party and what a day we had! Special guest Michael Rosen, our families and 3,500 people from our local community joined us to commemorate 200 years of educating children in the local area, with a day of family fun, entertainers and children's authors. Today we said farewell to our wonderful Year 6 pupils, most of whom have been with us since they were 3 years old. Over the years we have watched them grow into the wonderfully talented, capable and well rounded young people that they are. And even though they are now moving on to their senior schools, they will always be part of the Blackheath Prep community! We wish them well in the next exciting chapter of their lives. #Joy #Community #Courage #BeBlackheathPrep

For one of our special projects commemorating 200 years of our school, we invited ceramic and wire sculptor @james.ort to come into school to work with our pupils to create a new work of art for our school grounds. Inspired by our school crest, pupils have been creating mythical creatures and working with James to create the final designs. All will be unveiled in the autumn when the new sculpture is installed in its new home! #Curiosity #Joy #BeBlackheathPrep
