We are delighted that you are considering our school for your child. To find out more about the many benefits of a Blackheath Prep education for your child, we warmly invite you to come and visit us in person and experience the outstanding education and facilities we offer our pupils at one of our Open Days.

For families interested in a 2026/27 places, we are holding an Open Morning on 26 November 2025, the perfect opportunity to see the school in action on a normal school day. Register for the tour here. Applications for 7+ places (Year 3) for September 2026 entry close on 1 December 2025. New Nursery for 2025

Our Nursery has been completely refurbished for 2025, with 3 wonderfully spacious classrooms, and landscaped outdoor areas, offering a superb setting for our youngest pupils. Applying for a place at Blackheath Prep

We are currently taking applications for children wishing to join our Prep (7+) for 2026 entry. We have a very limited number of occasional places available in some other years. Apply online here. Open Days

Next Open Morning – Wednesday 26 November 2025

Next Open Day – Saturday 16 May 2026

Saturday Open Days – take place in the autumn and spring terms and are an opportunity for prospective families and children to visit our school, meet staff and pupils, and tour our facilities.

Tuesday Open mornings – an opportunity for parents to tour the school on a normal school day during term-time. 

Open events get booked up far in advance so we encourage you to register for a place as soon as possible.

Nursery places

The usual entry point for children joining Blackheath Prep is in the Nursery at 3+. We have two intakes a year, in January and September. Please note, we do not have a formal intake into Reception, unless on the rare occasions a place becomes available. If you are considering applying for a Nursery place for your child, you can find out more about our admissions and assessment process here. 7+ entry

We also offer places at 7+ for children wishing to join our school in Year 3 and above.

We currently have a limited number of occasional places for 2025 – 26 entry. Apply here.

Each year, our Year 6 receive excellent preparation for the 11+ and senior school transfer process. They consistently achieve outstanding results. In the 2024/25 academic year, over 70% of our Year 6 pupils received scholarships from their senior schools of choice, with a total of 141 independent school places and 6 Grammar school places being offered. Eltham College Family of Schools

Blackheath Prep is part of the Eltham College family of schools. Our pupils are able to access a ‘priority places’ process and sit the Eltham College entrance exam in the September of Year 6 ahead of external candidates. If they pass the entrance exam and accept an offer of a place, this enables the pupil to withdraw from the 11+ process. More information about the Eltham College admissions process is available here. We recognise that some parents may wish to consider a range of senior school options and there is no obligation on our families to send their children to Eltham College. Pupils who wish to include Eltham College as one of their options, alongside other schools, will sit the entrance exam in January as normal. All our Year 6 pupils receive excellent preparation and support during the 11+ process.
