To commemorate 200 years of our school, we held a fun-filled Family Fun Day & Children’s Book Festival on Saturday 1 July 2023 and invited our families and local community to come and celebrate with us!

An amazing 3,500 people came for the day, joining special guest, Michael Rosen, the inspirational former Children’s Laureate, and children’s entertainers and authors for a day of books, music, dance, arts and crafts activities, workshops, bubblologists, stilt walkers and much more!

Michael Rosen thrilled the crowds with his performance of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt and other works, plus a marathon 2 and a half hour book signing! Children’s writers and illustrators – Christian Foley, Rachael Mortimer, Jane Lightbourne, Gareth P Jones and Sav Akyüz – performed live on stage, hosted workshops and did book signings throughout the day.

The day’s entertainment included Professor Strange from ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, the wonderful owls from Jambs Owls, the exotic reptiles and insects at the Wiggly Wild Show, and 45 talented makers, designers and crafters at the Solo Craft Fair. Plus performances by talented young musicians and singers from Blackheath Prep and James Wolfe School, Blackheath School of Dance, Trinity Laban Young Strings ensemble and ClanJamFray Folk group.

Thank you to everyone who visited our school on the day – it was wonderful to share our bicentenary with you on this special day!
