Superb academic results

Each year, our Year 6 leavers achieve outstanding results in their 11+ and move on to the leading senior schools in London and Kent. In the 2024/25 academic year, over 70% of our Year 6 pupils received scholarship offers from their senior schools of choice, with a total of 141 independent school places and 6 Grammar school places offered. Joining the Nursery

The usual entry point for children joining Blackheath Prep is in the Nursery at 3+. Our wonderful Nursery offers three bright and spacious classrooms, dedicated outdoor well-equipped play areas and regular weekly trips to our on-site Forest Schools where exploration and mini-adventures are encouraged!

We have two intakes a year, in January and September. We do not have a formal intake into Reception, unless on the occasion a place becomes available. If you are considering applying for a Nursery place for your child, you can find out more about our admissions and assessment process here. Please note, applications for September 2026 Nursery places have now closed.

A brand new Nursery

Our Nursery spaces were completely refurbished in 2025 and now offer 3 spacious classrooms and landscaped outdoor areas, providing a superb setting for our youngest pupils. Classrooms are designed with natural materials and calming colours and provide a superb introduction to school life. 7+ entry

We offer a second entry point at 7+ for children wishing to join our school in Year 3 and above. Pupils who join our Prep benefit from a rich and broad curriculum which we offer all the way through to Year 6, and superb preparation for the 11+ and senior school process.

Open Days

Saturday Open Days – take place in the autumn and spring terms and are an opportunity for prospective families and children to visit our school, meet staff and pupils, and tour our facilities. Next Open Day – Saturday 16 May 2026

Wednesday Open mornings (term time only) – a great opportunity for parents to see the school on a normal school day. 

Open events get booked up far in advance so we encourage you to register for a place as soon as possible.

Eltham College Family of Schools

Blackheath Prep is part of the Eltham College family of schools. Our pupils are able to access a ‘priority places’ process and sit the Eltham College entrance exam in the September of Year 6 ahead of external candidates. If they pass the entrance exam and accept an offer of a place, this enables the pupil to withdraw from the 11+ process. More information about the Eltham College admissions process is available here. We recognise that some parents may wish to consider a range of senior school options and there is no obligation on our families to send their children to Eltham College. Pupils who wish to include Eltham College as one of their options, alongside other schools, will sit the entrance exam in January as normal. All our Year 6 pupils receive excellent preparation and support during the 11+ process.
